Sweet Revenge

Sweet Revenge

"How was the Anime Fest?" A friend had asked.

"I don't know man." came my reply.

Just last Saturday, I had entered the convention for free thanks to a colleague who had exhibitor passes. The first section my body's game radar had detected was the TKA booth where the tourneys were being held and I ended up camping there without bothering to walk around to explore the whole exhibition.

So... I really don't know man.

Initially, I had planned on watching the tourney but it was over by the time I arrived so I thought I'd walk around the booth to take a look and hopefully get a few games in. A guy got up from a machine and the crowd surrounding were staring at one another so I took the chance to squeeze in like a hamster and plonk my ass on the chair. Without thinking much, I inserted my credit and looked up at the screen to see who my opponent was.

Ryu - 19 wins.

WTF? 19 wins? I must be suicidal.

I tried to look over to the other end to get a glimpse of the player but all I saw was the crowd giving me a skeptical 'You must be suicidal' look. I picked Ken. A guy behind goes "Whoa Ken."

Ryu VS Ken. Old but nevertheless epic.

We fought on to the 5th round where we both had won 2 rounds each and were down to very little HP.

Ryu was in the corner.

I did a forward MK.

He forced an Ultra.

This is so gonna hurt.

The crowd gave a loud WHOA that echoed through the whole booth and everyone turned to look over.

I kicked Ryu but took the full Ultra. Both of us fell to the ground and the screen seemed to freeze for an eternity. Then Ken stood up.

I heaved a sigh of relief. I could hear the crowd behind breathe out too. Felt damn drama.

I looked over to the other end to see Mr Rat Face stand up and started exchanging some words with the dude who plays SF EX.

Never once have I beaten that Ah Lao.

Revenge is definitely sweet.

Looking back at the screen, I discovered that there was a media video camera sitting on the side of my machine filming in my face. Great. After all the frowning and KNNs I was muttering under my breath during the match, I must have been looking damn glam.

My fav scene in the trailer.
I now know what it means. It is telling you to beware the toe.
